“Fragile Creatures” screening April 19 at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Fragile Creatures is a short film some friends and I made last year for the 48 Go Green International Eco Film Competition. The 48 Go Green is a lot like the 48 Hour Film Project, where contestants must create a four to seven minute short film in just two days. Filmmakers must incorporate in their film a random genre, character name and occupation, line of dialogue and prop. The 48 Go Green differs by assigning ecological themes instead of genres. Our theme for Fragile Creatures was “Save the Animals.” You can see the full cast list and film requirements on our 48 Go Green page.

Hundreds of films were submitted from around the globe and ours was selected as 1 of the top 15 winners to be screened at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Yes, that Academy, the same one that just held their 85th Oscar Awards. The selection process involved two rounds of online voting (thanks friends!) and several rounds of judging in between. A year seems like a long time to wait for your six minute film to be assessed, but now that we’re headed to Hollywood, I’m beyond excited. I’ve never been to Los Angeles, but now is definitely the time.
